Here is how we helped Joe and his family

We first equipped Joe's home with the latest in AI-powered voice assistant technology, with a smart speaker in his Bedroom, Bathroom, Living Room & Kitchen. We then worked with Joe and his family to meticulously program this system to meet his and their needs.

Now, if Joe needs assistance, he simply says "Help!" from anywhere in the home to immediately alert and call his family.

He can also call his family and friends with a simple voice command like "Call John", ensuring easy and relaible communication.

Joe's son can remotely 'Drop In' on a specific room for a chat or to check in on Joe using the command "Call Dad". His son can also remotely adjust the volume.

Advanced sensors also monitor for a variety of sounds like glass breaking and coughing and will send an alert to the family to check in with Joe.

To reduce mobility-related pain caused by daily switching on/off lights and appliances, we created a series of simple voice commands like:

"Turn on Living Room" to switch on TV, Sky box, heater and 2 lights.

"Turn on Bedroom Lights" to switch on 2 bedside lights.

"Turn on bathroom Lights" to switch on bedside light, hall light and bathroom light to illuminate a path to the bathroom at night.

For the above examples, saying "Turn Off" instead of "Turn On" reversed the action

These commands are tailored to meet particular needs. For example, one of the commands requested for Joe was him saying "Good Night" in his bed, triggered a routine to make sure all targeted lights and appliances downstairs were switched off. It also sent a message to Joe's family saying "Good Night, All Is Well"

A smart smoke alarm was installed in the kitchen with alerts going to family members who can then assess the severity of an alert with an installed Ring internal camera - is it just burnt toast ? or an emergency ?

Peace Of Mind Updates: We worked with Joe's family to provide both standard and bespoke alerts triggered by activity or inactivity, like "Dad Is Up and About!" - to know he has started her day, or "Haven't Seen Dad Downstairs Yet!" - to get a nudge to check in with him.

We also trained Joe's family in how to set up spoken Medication Reminders and Appointment Reminders.

  • This was a 4 zone voice assistant installation providing Joe both emergency and social communication plus voice command of lights and appliances throughout the home employing 6x smart bulbs, 2x smart plugs and a smart hub. A smart smoke alarm and Ring indoor camera was also installed.

    The Upfront Cost covered:

    • The installation, including power provision, of the 4 smart speakers, smoke alarm, camera, smart bulbs and plugs.
    • Set-up and critical calibration of the devices.
    • App and account setup. Customisation of system to meet family needs - alerts, emergency contacts , voice commands etc
    • Removal of the smart speakers from the property when no longer required. (Note: These devices are proprietary to Smart Space Technologies and remain our property. These devices are rented. There is no minimum rental period - simply a rolling month to month fee paid by direct debit which can be cancelled at any time.)
    • An initial rental fee.

    The Rental Fee covers:

    • Device rental and maintenance.
    • Ongoing support - adhoc reprogramming etc
